Archive Access
The archive can be accessed in several ways. Information about different levels of access can be found here. The creators have access to all resources deposited by them.
For more information about different options to access the catalogue and the content choose one of the following options:
- Metadata Access Methods for browsing and searching in the archive
- Content Access Methods to access annotated media resources, lexica and other documents
What types of resources can you expect in the DOBES Archive?
The DOBES Language Resource Archive, as well as the whole Archive of the MPI for Psycholinguistics, both cover a large amount of linguistically interesting resources about different languages covering a great variety of linguistic resource types such as
- Annotated Audio and Video Recordings (not all recordings will be analyzed and annotated)
- multimedia lexica (only a few already have multimedia extensions)
- textual material of all sorts, such as field notes, notes about phonetics and prosody, sketch grammars, etc.
- (annotated) images/photos and series of photos
With the help of publicly available metadata descriptions, one can browse and search to find useful resources. Getting access to the resources themselves it may be necessary to get access permissions. Currently most of the data is closed, but we hope that from 2006 going forward, more and more data will become available to the public. Where possible we provide links to short guides and manuals. There is also a pointer to actually do it.
Access Procedures
We distinguish four different categories of resources: (1) Open Resources that are open for anyone where users are only informed about property rights and expected ethical behavior. (2) Restricted Open Resources that are open for users that register and sign the Code of Conduct. (3) Protected Resources where users have to request permittence to access them and where they have to accept a usage declaration and the Code of Conduct. (4) Closed Resources where for ethical or other reasons an access is not possible. For more detailed information about these steps look here.
