Upload into the Archive

For a direct step to the upload page chose the following option. For more detailed information on uploading, please see below.

We would like to encourage users to contribute and upload to the archive. These uploads can be of different natures, such as:

  • Depositors want to upgrade or extend existing archival content which will generate new versions of existing resources, or add structure nodes and resources to the archive.
  • New depositors want to upload new data or new sub corpora into the archive. (manual)

The MPI team supports these intentions and suggests using the LAMUS tool to carry out this work via the web. For all archive uploads there is the requirement that metadata has to be provided, and that the general, ethical and legal constraints must be fulfilled. There is a procedure to follow:

  1. Users have to request a temporary workspace and indicate the type of work they want to carry out.
  2. The archivist will have to check in, collaboration with the appropriate boards, whether the upload is accepted and where the extension should be done. In the case that a depositor wants to change "their" material the request will of course be granted.
  3. The user will be informed about the decision and where to upload the material.

If the user wants to add material to the DOBES archive, the Steering Board or the Linguistic Advisory Board has to be approached. If the user wants to add material to the MPI archive then the directors will need to be contacted. There is a top level entry for other type of contributions where the archivist can decide more easily about requests.

The LAMUS software allows you to do the following manipulations via the web:

  • add new or modify existing archive nodes
  • add new or modify existing metadata descriptions
  • add new or modify existing resources
  • link resources to metadata descriptions
