Work Packages

WP1 – Management (MPI)

The overall management has to setup proper communication channels incl. a web-site, to keep track of all work carried out in DAM-LR, to assure that the goals and milestones are met and that the deliverables are finished in time. Further, the interaction with the PO will be handled.

WP2 – Local Prototype (MPI)

A prototypical access management solution will be developed that can serve as reference installation for all partners. It will contain solutions for the four essential pillars: browsable and searchable metadata, unique resource identifier, access management, user management. Training sessions will be done to inform the partners about the essentials of the solution.

WP3 – Metadata Integration (LUND)

The participating archives have to see that they setup their metadata frameworks, take care that the metadata is interoperable and that the metadata can be integrated to form one browsable and searchable domain. IMDI will play a major role for the integration. At various times new metadata will be added to the domain by the partners.

WP4 – Archive Formation (SOAS)

Each partner has to setup a local archiving system and has to document the decisions to the partners. The archival system will be maintained throughout the course of the project.

WP5 – Local LUND (LUND)

The task is to install a local solution for all four major access management pillars for the Lund archive such that it can be integrated later into the distributed solution. The decisions taken by the archive have to be documented to the other partners and it is LUND’s responsibility to take care that compatibility can be achieved later.

WP6 – Local SOAS (SOAS)

The task is to install a local solution for all four major access management pillars for the SOAS archive such that it can be integrated later into the distributed solution. The decisions taken by the archive have to be documented to the other partners and it is their responsibility to take care that compatibility can be achieved later.

WP7 – Local INL (INL)

The task is to install a local solution for all four major access management pillars for the INL archive such that it can be integrated later into the distributed solution. The decisions taken by the archive have to be documented to the other partners and it is their responsibility to take care that compatibility can be achieved later.

WP8 – Definitions (INL)

Basic agreements and specifications about solutions of the major 4 components documented carefully. In particular, decisions about interfaces have to be documented. They will serve as reference documents.

WP9 – Distributed Solution (MPI)

The task is to come to a distributed solution for the four basic pillars (metadata, URID management, access and user management) that is based on the local solution worked out in WP2.

WP10 – Adapt and Integrate (SOAS)

Dependent on the choices for the components for the distributed and the various local solutions adaptations have to be carried out to integrate the archives with respect to the four pillars. In particular, the local solutions have to adhere to the specification of the interfaces.

WP11 – Test (INL)

The integrated distributed solution aimed at as the result of DAM-LR has to be tested intensively to find out whether it is fully operational. Tests have to lead to adaptations of the software used.

WP12 – Dissemination (LUND)

It is one of the major goals of the DAM-LR partners to disseminate the knowledge and experience to other interested parties. The idea is of course to convince other relevant language resource centers to participate in the emerging distributed solution to the benefit of the users. Also users will be made aware of the emerging solution and its attractiveness. Training sessions will be done at various occasions to train interested archivists and users.

The DAM-LR project is funded by the EC Research Infrastructures
