Abstract Loll

This talk, investigating the use of determiners in acquisition data of a German learning child with Russian L1 (lacking nominal determiners in a strict sense), will be looking into the development of referential and semantic features and their increasing impact on the use of determiners. In the data representing an early stage of L2 acquisition semantic features fail to correlate with the use of determiners. Instead, a surprising correlation of  phonological characteristics of the respective NP with determiner use is found. This effect fades in the further course of acquisition when referential and semantic features of the NP become more relevant.
