IMPRS for Language Sciences -

Welcome to the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Language Sciences.

The IMPRS for Language Sciences is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics and two research institutes based at the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour and the Centre for Language Studies (CLS).The IMPRS  for Language Sciences enriches the research programmes of outstanding doctoral students in the language sciences by bringing together the expertise of its partner institutes to provide a multidisciplinary training and research environment.

IMPRS for Language Sciences Fellowships

The call for the 2018 Fellowships is expected to open in October, 2017 with a deadline in early January, 2018. The IMPRS is highly interested in applicants with broad theoretical and experimental knowledge, including advanced methods (e.g. EEG, fMRI, computational models, etc.) and analysis (e.g., mixed effects, Bayesian).

The three IMPRS for Language Sciences Fellowships are fully funded PhD positions for the duration of a 4-year project (start-date: 1 Sept 2018). They are intended to encourage interdisciplinary research that takes advantage of the high concentration of top-rated expertise and facilities available in Nijmegen.

Finalists will each be asked to develop a research proposal in
consultation with their proposed potential supervisors. They will then be invited to present their proposal at the MPI to a mixed panel of experts and non-experts. Proposals promoting interdisciplinary research are most preferred. Accordingly, applicants are strongly advised to consider a combination of researchers based at the MPI and its partner institutes (CLS, Donders Institute) as potential supervisors. Successful applicants will have full access to facilities and resources at the MPI, CLS and Donders Institute to carry out their research.

A list of potential supervisors will be made available when the call for applications goes out.

To be informed when we begin accepting applications, please send an e-mail to imprs at mpi dot nl (subject line: Mailinglist 2018 Fellowships).
