Burgerservicenumber/Sofinumber
The tax and social security number, Burgerservicenumber (BSN) or Sofinumber, is a personal identification number, which is recorded for every dutch taxpayer in a database of the Tax and Customs Administration.
The BSN or Sofinumber is an entirely arbitrary number that does not contain any information on the person to whom it has been assigned.
When you live and work in the Netherlands, you will automatically receive a BSN after the registration at the Gemeente Nijmegen. For more information please check
Burgerservicenumber.
When you live abroad (for example Germany), but work in the Netherlands, you will have to request a Sofinumber. For more information please check
Sofinumber.
For the transfer of your salary, the Administration should always receive a copy of your BSN or Sofinumber.
