About MPI

The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological, social and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types.

The institute is situated on the campus of the Radboud University. We participate in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and have particularly close ties to that institute's Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging. We also participate in the Centre for Language Studies. A joint graduate school, the IMPRS in Language Sciences, links the Donders Institute, the CLS and the MPI.

Hagoort elected as member of INS

Peter Hagoort, director of the MPI for Psycholinguistics and Donders Centre for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, has recently been elected member of the International Neuropsychological Symposium.

September 3, 2010

The International Neuropsychological Symposium (INS) was founded by Henry Hécaen in 1951 and has maximally 124 members worldwide. Members are elected on the basis of their contributions to the field of cognitive neuroscience. The INS meets once a year,  preferably at a mediterranean location.

Three staff positions

Hagoort advertises three staff positions for his department on the Neurobiology of Language at the MPI for Psycholinguistics. According to Hagoort, these positions are for young ambitious researchers who will profit from the excellent research environment that the Max Planck Institute and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour offer (see also link and link).

Documentary: 'Niet voor bangeriken'

Jeroen Berkvens, a well-known director of documentary films has made a 40-minute documentary about Hagoort. This documentary will be shown for the first time during the 'Utrechtse Filmdagen' in September. It can also be seen in Nijmegen in movie theatre LUX on Sunday, October 3, 2010. Later this fall, it will be broadcasted on national TV, titled: 'Niet voor bangeriken' (Not for scaredy-cats).
