My broad interests are in the evolutionary, cognitive and cultural factors influencing patterns of cross-cultural recurrence and variability in human thought and behaviour. I am currently conducting cross-cultural and developmental research projects on cooperation and social bonding.
I completed my PhD (Anthropology) in 2005 at the Institute of Cognition and Culture, Queen’s University Belfast. From 2006-2009, I was a post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Anthropology and Mind and the Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology, University of Oxford. In October 2009, I joined the Research Group in Comparative Cognitive Anthropology (MPI).
I have carried out research combining cross-cultural ethnographic and experimental methods in Brazil, Ireland, UK, Germany, and Tuvalu (Central Pacific).
