Sylvia Tufvesson
My research interests include semantic typology, language and perception, expressives, as well as language documentation and description. I under-take fieldwork-based documentation of the central Aslian language Semai (Austroasiatic, Mon-Khmer), spoken on Peninsular Malaysia. My research is focusing on the word class of expressives and the linguistic encoding of sensory perception.
I currently work part-time in the DoBeS project ‘Tongues of the Semang: documenting endangered languages and human-forest relationships among foragers of the Malay Peninsula’, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
