About MPI

The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological, social and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types.

The institute is situated on the campus of the Radboud University. We participate in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and have particularly close ties to that institute's Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging. We also participate in the Centre for Language Studies. A joint graduate school, the IMPRS in Language Sciences, links the Donders Institute, the CLS and the MPI.

Postdoctoral position Language & Cognition

The Language and Cognition group at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics seeks a psychologist with strong technical skills to investigate the cognitive processes involved in interactive language use.

The Language and Cognition group at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics seeks a psychologist with strong technical skills to investigate the cognitive processes involved in interactive language use. The work will be undertaken in the Multimodal Interaction project in collaboration with the Neurobiology of Language group. Focal issues are goal ascription in joint action environments and the temporal processes involved in turn-taking. Experience in online measures such as eye-tracking or neuro-imaging techniques would be a distinct advantage. The MPI offers access to a wide array of experimental techniques, including eye-tracking,VR, ERP and fMRI labs. The postdoctoral position is open now and will remain open till filled. Applications should include a vita, the names of 3 referees and a statement of interest and expertise, specifying experience with novel experimental design, statistical techniques and technical equipment.

Applications should be sent by email to: Edith Sjoerdsma
