About MPI

 

The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological,social and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types.

The institute is situated on the campus of the Radboud University. We participate in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and have particularly close ties to that institute's Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging. We also participate in the Centre for Language Studies. A joint graduate school, the IMPRS in Language Sciences, links the Donders Institute, the CLS and the MPI.

Student assistants for Technical Group

The technical group of the institute is looking for student assistants for digitization of video material and for Macintosh support.

Student Assistant Video Digitization

The MPI has a large digital archive of linguistic audiovisual and textual material. A lot of the audiovisual material needs to be digitized from tapes. For two large digitization projects we are looking for a student assistant who can help out with this process. Affinity with audiovisual technology and good computer skills are required. The student assistant also needs to be able to work in a very precise manner.

Student Assistant Macintosh Support

The number of Macintosh computers being used at the MPI is growing; therefore we are looking for a student assistant who can help us with the support of the Mac users. Obviously a thorough knowledge of the Mac platform is a requirement for this position. Good communicative skills in English are also required.

The number of working hours for both positions can be negotiated but should be between 12 and 19 hours per week.
