The department has three places for interns from September 1 to June 30 each year. Next February, we will selected  the interns for the academic year 2018-2019.

These internships are offered to BA or MA students who wish to gain experience in experimental psycholinguistics and/or cognitive modelling. Work done at the MPI can sometimes be used to fulfill the requirements of a BA or MA course. We offer the opportunity to learn how to conduct chronometric, eye tracking, computational modelling and sometimes EEG experiments. Students are typically asked to carry out a small self-contained project (background reading, designing a study, generating materials, testing participants/ computational models, analyzing the results, written and oral reporting).

The duration of the internship is flexible with a minimum of 8 weeks. Unfortunately, we cannot contribute to the intern's travel or living expenses. Applicants should have some prior training in experimental psychology or machine learning (incl.: artificial intelligence, artificial neural network modelling), statistics and design, and good knowledge of English. The Max Planck Society is an equal opportunity employer. To apply, they should send a letter explaining why they would like to work at the MPI, along with a CV and contact details for two referees to

About MPI

This is the MPI

The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological, social and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types.

The institute is situated on the campus of the Radboud University. We participate in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and have particularly close ties to that institute's Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging. We also participate in the Centre for Language Studies. A joint graduate school, the IMPRS in Language Sciences, links the Donders Institute, the CLS and the MPI.
