The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (Nijmegen, the Netherlands) is offering a laboratory and animal technician position in the Language & Genetics Department.

Job description
We are looking for a technician who will be responsible for the management of our animal colony.

This will involve overseeing our mouse colony to support the diverse research being undertaken in the Language & Genetics department. Tasks will involve managing animal stocks and breedings (together with the animal caretakers at the central animal facility), animal genotyping (DNA isolation and preparation, PCR) and administrative duties (e.g. colony management documentation, animal record keeping, communication with animal caretakers, and completion of administrative forms).

Previous lab or animal experience is essential. An Article 9 or Article 12 of the Experiments on Animals Act (Wet op de dierproeven [Wod]) is desirable. About MPI

This is the MPI

The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological, social and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types.

The institute is situated on the campus of the Radboud University. We participate in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and have particularly close ties to that institute's Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging. We also participate in the Centre for Language Studies. A joint graduate school, the IMPRS in Language Sciences, links the Donders Institute, the CLS and the MPI.
