Dimensions of Sound in Language and Mind

When listeners perceive music, they integrate the dimensions of rhythm, pitch, timbre, and loudness. How are these dimensions coded across languages? Does the way people talk about these dimensions influence the way they perceive them? In this project we combine linguistic analyses with perceptual psychophysics to investigate how experience with language shapes our experience of sound.
