Information for prospective students

There are no vacancies for PhD students in the EPLC group, but we would consider supporting applications for funding from well qualified candidates.

We have some capacity to supervise internships and Master's projects.

We are interested in student projects in

  • processes of language change
  • comparative anthropology
  • coevolution in culture, language, demography and biology

So far as we are concerned, "well qualified" means that you have at least two of the following:

  • some background in evolutionary theory and the intention to conduct research within an evolutionary framework
  • statistical/computational training, ideally with some experience in using evolutionary / phylogenetic methods (tree-building / comparative methods)
  • an identified research question and source of data (that is something about language / culture)
