Social networks

We learn language from our social environment, yet people differ in the social environment that they have. This project explores how individual differences in social network properties, such as network size, network heterogeneity, and network density, influence people’s linguistic skills and the nature of their representations. The project combines experimental manipulations, studies of individual differences, and computational simulations to explore the mechanisms by which our social environment influences our linguistic abilities.
