Soft skills: Behind the journal
In this workshop, Dagmar Divjak (University of Birmingham, Editor-in-Chief of Cognitive Linguistics) will also give us a look at the behind-the-scenes of a journal.
In the morning session, which is hybrid, Dagmar will give you a look behind the scenes of Cognitive Linguistics, one of the leading journals in linguistics. She will talk us through all steps of the submission and post-submission process, highlighting what editors look for at each stage.
In the afternoon, which is limited to attendees in Tartu, Dagmar will run a hands-on workshop where she looks more closely at reviews and discusses ways in which to deal with reviewer comments, which can be insightful and helpful but also misguided and conflicting. She will work with workshop attendees to respond to reviews they have received and advise on how to strike a balance and learn to improve you work, from even the most critical review.
In the afternoon, there will be time for individual consultations with Dagmar. If you want to have a consultation, please let us know.
Where? This is a partially hybrid event that will take place both online on zoom and at the University of Tartu. You will get the zoom link after registration.
