Registration at the Gemeente Nijmegen

If you do not have the Dutch nationality and you want to stay in the Netherlands for a period longer than 3 months, you first have to register at the Gemeentelijke Basisadministratie (GBA) upon your arrival in Nijmegen.

The address of the Gemeente Nijmegen is:
De Stadswinkel
Loket Burgerzaken
Mariënburg 30
6511 PS Nijmegen

You can not just go there, you will first have to make an appointment. This appointment will be arranged by Angela Heuts in Operations.

To the appointment you (and family members, if applicable) will have to come personally and bring along the following documents:

- valid identification papers (passport) (for all family members, if applicable)

- legalised (authenticated with an Apostille stamp) birth certificate (for all family members, if applicable)

- legalised (authenticated with an Apostille stamp) marriage certificate (if applicable)

- legalised (authenticated with an Apostille stamp) unmarried status declaration (if applicable)

- copy of the tenancy agreement of your new residence address in Nijmegen or letter from MPI when staying in the MPI Guesthouse

An Apostille is a stamp attached to an official document so that the document can be recognized as genuine by governments of other countries. The granting of an Apostille is also known as 'legalisation'. You will have to pay to have documents Apostilled. Note that it may take several weeks to obtain copies of certificates and to get Apostilles.

You are furthermore obliged to inform both the Gemeente (Digitale Balie, verhuizing) and Operations, every time you change address within or outside Nijmegen.

About MPI

This is the MPI

The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological, social and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types.

The institute is situated on the campus of the Radboud University. We participate in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and have particularly close ties to that institute's Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging. We also participate in the Centre for Language Studies. A joint graduate school, the IMPRS in Language Sciences, links the Donders Institute, the CLS and the MPI.
