A huge congratulations to Linda Drijvers, who holds positions at both the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour at Radboud University, on being awarded a prestigious ERC Starting Grant.

Linda’s research on language promises to bring exciting new insights into how we communicate and connect: "My drive for this topic is that I really want to study language in its natural form, and I believe that our models of the neurobiology of language also need to take this context into account in order to truly understand how our brains process language. In addition, I think this project will allow us to better understand how we prioritize and integrate different streams of information. And that, of course, is such a fundamental process that it may be relevant to many different fields," she says.

Linda will receive €1.5 million to build her own research group and expand her pioneering work. Knowing the dedication, persistence, and passion she has invested in her work, this achievement is incredibly well-deserved. Linda: "This grant makes it possible for me to collaborate over a longer period with excellent young researchers, and together develop new methods and analytical techniques to study the neurobiology of language in more natural contexts. Without this fellowship, these developments would not have been possible!"

ERC Starting Grants are awarded to outstanding young scientists two to seven years post-PhD, and it’s inspiring to see both our Institute and Radboud University so strongly represented in this round.
