Help shape the future of Psycholinguistics: become Director at our Institute
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will be a driving force in advancing psycholinguistics: someone who can build on classical foundations (studying speaking, listening, signing, reading), and push frontiers in:
- individual differences in language ability
- adaptation & learning from linguistic input
- naturalistic communication (especially conversation)
- integrating sociocognitive factors (memory, prediction, executive control)
- multi‑modal and neural representations of language
- computational modelling to generate, test, and refine theory
The candidate should bring proven leadership, the ability to set and execute a visionary long‐term strategy, and a track record of impactful scholarship. A bonus: experience building bridges, within the Max Planck Society, at partner institutes like the Donders Institute and Radboud University, and internationally in the Netherlands and Germany.
Understanding language
Becoming Director at MPI for Psycholinguistics is more than a leadership role: it’s a chance to shape how we understand language and its interaction with cognition, culture, and the brain. You’ll help chart paths that address core scientific questions, foster innovation, and make MPI a global hub for forward looking psycholinguistic research.
If you are passionate about the psychology of language and believe you can help steer its future, we encourage you to nominate or apply. Join us in pushing boundaries, inspiring collaboration, and transforming what we know about how humans acquire, process, and use language.
