The third webinar is planned on January 25, 2021. Speakers are Mark Dingemanse (Radboud University), Kenny Smith (University of Edinburgh), Willem Zuidema (University of Amsterdam) and Claire Bowern (Yale University).
With contributions from MPI Directors Caroline Rowland and Peter Hagoort.

The Future of Linguistics
The directors of the Max Planck Institute in Nijmegen have identified the field of linguistics as the core area for the new department. Linguistics should in this case be construed broadly and include, for example, linguistic typology, theoretical linguistics, linguistic anthropology, computational linguistics, multimodal communication, language evolution. The aim of these webinars is to discuss in more detail what the promising developments are in the field of linguistics that should guide our search procedure.
