The MEDAL Summer School: Cutting-edge Methods in Computational Modelling for Young Linguists

13 June 2025
MEDAL Summer School
The time is coming close for the last summer school of the MEDAL consortium, which will take place from 23 to 27 June at the University of Birmingham, one of the consortium partners. This summer school is tailored for early-career linguists, to bring them up to date with the latest methodological developments in the fast-growing field of computational modelling, and the applications this has for language research.

We have a full programme, which includes introductory classes on Python for linguistics, working with Large Language Models, language evolution, and no less than 10 different keynote speakers, including Melanie Bell, Jack Grieve, and Simon Kirby. We are updating the workshop descriptions as we go, so check MEDAL's website for more information about the speakers and the schedule.

In addition, we’re excited to offer open-access plenary lectures streamed live on Zoom, please contact us at medal [at] ut.ee (medal[at]ut[dot]ee) if you are interested. Whether you're a student, researcher, or just curious about the latest in computational approaches to multilingual and multimodal language data, you're welcome to tune in and learn from leading experts in the field.

We look forward to welcoming our students in Birmingham this summer at our last MEDAL summer school!
