Nijmegen Lectures with Daniel Dennett: Registration is open!

Registration for the Nijmegen Lectures with Professor Daniel C. Dennett on Autonomy, Language, and Consciousness has opened today.
Nijmegen Lectures with Daniel Dennett: Registration is open!

The lectures and discussion sessions on October 15 and 16 are free of charge and open to the public. Please note that registration is required for everybody who plans to attend. You can register via the registration link on the event home page. We advise you to register as soon as possible because space is limited.

We are happy to announce the Discussants for the two afternoon sessions of this edition of the Nijmegen Lectures. On Monday, Dr. Fleur Jongepier (Philosophy, Radboud University), Dr. Julian Kiverstein (AMC, University of Amsterdam), and Prof. Dr. Marc Slors (Philosophy, Radboud University) will discuss Dennett's morning lecture on Autonomy and Consciousness.

On Tuesday, Prof. Dr. Caroline Rowland (Language Development, MPI for Psycholinguistics) and Dr. Sebo Uithol (Donders Institute, Radboud University) will discuss Dennett's morning lecture on The role of Language in Human Consciousness.

A poster session will be held on Tuesday after the Discussion session at the Max Planck Institute. Abstracts can be submitted via this link.

The Nijmegen Lectures is an annual event hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour and the Centre for Language Studies of the Radboud University Nijmegen. It showcases the best research in linguistics from around the world. Previous lecturers include Elena Lieven (Manchester University), Gary Dell (University of Illinois), David Poeppel (New York University), and Elizabeth Spelke and Susan Carey (Harvard University).

The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological,social and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types.

The institute is situated on the campus of the Radboud University. We participate in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and have particularly close ties to that institute's Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging. We also participate in the Centre for Language Studies. A joint graduate school, the IMPRS in Language Sciences, links the Donders Institute, the CLS and the MPI.
