During conversations, interlocutors need to quickly switch between comprehension and production, and sometimes they start planning a spoken response while the other person is still speaking.  Although such strategies help us minimise gaps between turns, they may affect the way comprehension and production processes are carried out in such contexts.

In my PhD project, supervised by Dr. Suzanne Jongman and Prof. Antje Meyer, I use behavioural and electrophysiological methods to investigate whether and how planning for speech while listening to someone else affects our comprehension processes, with a particular focus on priming and memory encoding.
