My PhD research is on lexical semantics in Southeast Asian languages. Basic verbs such as 'eat' and 'give' are often polysemous and appear in different idiosyncratic compounds in different languages. My project investigates the geographical distribution of these idiosyncratic patterns. My broader interests are in language prehistory, theories of grammar and semantics, and language evolution.
