Simeon Floyd is an affiliated researcher with the Language and Cognition Department;he was a a member of the 'Human Sociality and Systems of Language Use' ERC project (2010-2014,directed by Nick Enfield), part of Interactional Foundations of Language project (IFL).

His research centers on indigenous languages and cultures of South America, especially on the Cha'palaa and Quechua languages of Ecuador and the Nheengatú language of Brazil. Currently he holds joint positions with the Promteo Fellowship program of the Ecuadorian science agency Senescyt for language documentation in Ecuador and at Radboud University, Nijmegen, with Asifa Majid's NWO project on language and the senses.
