I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Language and Genetics Department. My research focuses on studying the individual differences in the genomics of language skills.
In July 2022, I joined the MPI to investigate the polygenic profile of individual differences in language skills, which was part of the Big Question 4 (BQ4) of the Language in Interaction consortium. In this project we explore the relationships between the various language constructs (measured with the IDLaS test battery developed at MPI) and the underlying genetic make-up in Dutch young adults.
Currently, I am working on starting up the Letterprins DNA project, where we aim to study the polygenic profile of individual differences in children's learning variability and trajectories of reading and language skills in children of age 6-8 years old who play the Letterprins game.
Beside my main tasks, I am also a member of the GenLang network where I collaborate with researchers on diverse projects and keep the membership database up to date. I am also part of the Scientific Board of the Healthy Brain Study (HBS) – an interdisciplinary, longitudinal, cohort study based on multidimensional, dynamic assessments in both the laboratory and the real world. The HBS data is an accessible resource for the scientific community and it aims to enable the next step in understanding the human brain and how it dynamically and individually operates in its bio-social context.
