Library

The MPI’s library team supports all our researchers by providing printed and electronic content. We are committed to locating and sharing the right information quickly and efficiently, thereby contributing to the success of the Institute’s research.

Accessing information

The library’s collection closely reflects the research that is currently being carried out at the Institute. Max Planck-wide licenses, as well as dozens of locally licensed e-journal subscriptions relevant to our research areas, provide access to more than 17,000 academic e-journals. Thanks to our catalogue, our staff have access to more than 500,000 ebooks, as well as the publications and presentations stored in our publication repository. Relevant reference databases can also be accessed.

Remote access to licensed content via Ezproxy and BrowZine

Ezproxy provides remote access to our licensed resources like ejournals, ebooks, Web of Science etc. Please sign in with your MPI credentials  https://login.ezproxy.mpi.nl

Browse and access ejournals via BrowZine

Publication Repository

In close cooperation with the research staff, we are responsible for managing and updating the Publications page on this website. These publications are taken from our repository, MPG.PuRe. The data are uploaded every night and subsequently displayed on individual Profile pages, Department pages, and Project pages, including links to the complete text and supplementary material.

Special collection: The Jerome Bruner library

Jerome Bruner played an important role in the establishment of the MPI. Following his death in 2016, the Bruner family donated his scientific library (comprising about 3,200 books) to our Institute. During the  cataloging process of the books, we paid particular attention to dedications from authors and notes written by Jerome Bruner himself. The Bruner library was officially opened on 8 January 2020. Read about the opening in the APS Observer. The library is accessible via the Bruner library catalog. [info]

Bruner’s papers, including correspondence, research material, and writings (nearly 200 linear feet), are located at the Harvard University Archives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

The library is open during the usual MPI office hours. Visitors may consult the library during these hours upon prior appointment. If you would like to make an appointment, please send an email to the library staff.
