Behind the scenes of an academic journal & The subtle art of responding to Reviewer 2

In this workshop, which is hybrid, Dagmar Divjak will give you a look behind the scenes of Cognitive Linguistics, one of the leading journals in linguistics. She will talk us through all steps of the submission and post-submission process, highlighting what editors look for at each stage. Dagmar will also look more closely at reviews and discusses ways in which to deal with reviewer comments, which can be insightful and helpful but also misguided and conflicting. In the last part there will be a Q&A session in which Dagmar answers question about how respond to reviews and advise on how to strike a balance and learn to improve you work, from even the most critical review.

Where? This is a partially hybrid event that will take place both online on Zoom and at the University of Tartu. You will get the zoom link after registration.

Schedule: 13:00-14:30 NL - Webinar about behind the scenes of an academic journal (1 hour), followed by a Q&A session (30 minutes) .
