Privacy information for participants

Research data

In order to participate in one of our studies, you must first provide informed consent. If we ask you to participate in one of our studies, you will always receive information about the study before you are asked to confirm whether you want to participate. Your participation in any of our studies will only be on voluntary basis and will only proceed once you have signed the consent form for that particular study. The data we will gather during research will always be stored separately from your personal information. Information about the storage of these data and who you can contact about your aforementioned rights will always be given to you before the particular study on a separate information form.

The reason for gathering these data will be described in the study information. The data will only be used for research objectives. The study information will advise you as to how long the data will be saved and, if applicable, with whom the data will be shared.

Information about the protection of personal information according to the GDPR

The scientific basis for personal data processing is your consent according to article 6, section 1 under a) or article 9, section 2 under a) GDPR. This concern your research data.

You have the right to revoke your consent as described above or in the study information. This can be done at any given point in time with immediate effect from when your data was first collected.

You have the right to receive information about the data that concerns you and are stored by us, the right to correct or delete these data, and the right to data portability, as long as the respective legal requirements are met. You also have the right to submit a complaint with our supervising authority. For the MPG, this can be done at the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision [Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht], Postfach 1349, 91504 Ansbach.

Right of access of supervising authorities

Certain individuals or authorities have to be able to look into your personal information and research data. This is necessary to check whether the study has been carried out appropriately and reliably. These individuals or authorities that get access to your personal information and research data include but are not limited to: authorised employees within Radboud University, the Max Planck Gesellschaft, and (inter)national supervisory authorities (for example the ‘Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens’, ‘Bayerische Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht’, and the ‘Landelijke Orgaan Wetenschappelijke Integriteit’). They will keep your personal information confidential. You will not be asked to give your consent for this inspection. If you do not want these individuals or authorities to be able to access your personal information and research data, you cannot participate in our research.
