Individual differences in language skills (IDLAS) Test batteries

Welcome to IDLAS!

The Individual Differences in Languages Skills Test Batteries are flexibly adaptable test batteries that can be used by researchers for scientific studies. Researchers can easily create their own version of the IDLaS by selecting which tests they want to use. The tests in these test batteries fall under the broader categories of linguistic experience (e.g., vocabulary or grammar), general-cognitive abilities (e.g., working memory or processing speed) and linguistic processing (word/sentence production/comprehension).

IDLaS is currently available in the following languages:

IDLaS-NL

The IDLaS-NL Test Battery was developed from 2017 to 2022 by a research team at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen and was funded by the Language in Interaction Consortium. IDLaS-NL is available online. More information on how to use the test battery can be found at www.mpi.nl/idlas-nl.

IDLaS-DE

FAQs

1. How can I access the test batteries?

Currently, the IDLaS test battery is only available in Dutch. The German and English versions are still under development, but will be online soon. To access the Dutch test battery, please go to the project-specific webpage www.mpi.nl/idlas-nl. There you will find all necessary instructions.

2. When will IDLaS-DE and IDLaS-EN be online?

IDLaS-DE and IDLaS-EN are currently under development. IDLaS-DE is in its final stages, i.e., data collection has finished and the data is currently being analysed. The release of the online test battery is planned by the end of 2024. 

IDLaS-EN is currently in its piloting phase. The planned release date for the online test battery will be announced shortly.
