I am a research assistant in the Multimodal Language Department and the Neurobiology of Language Department. I have ample experience in running experiments with participants from diverse age ranges and in using various research techniques such as VR, Eye-tracking and EEG.
From 2017-2022 I was part of the research team that developed the ‘IDLAS-NL’ test battery, a comprehensive set of tests to assess language skills in Dutch native speakers (more details can be found here: https://www.mpi.nl/idlas-nl). Currently I am involved in several research projects targeting multimodal reference comprehension and production, human-robot interaction and the role of perspective taking in language processing.
I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health Sciences at Maastricht University and a Master’s degree in Child & Education studies (track ‘Applied Neuroscience in Human Development’) at Leiden University. Before coming to the MPI, I worked as a language tutor, counselor and teaching assistant in special education (mainly working with children with autism spectrum disorders).
I am particularly interested in the interplay between socio-cognitive skills and multimodal language use in diverse populations (e.g. younger vs older adults, neurotypical vs neurodiverse children).
