My research interests revolve around the acquisition of phonology. Over the next few years, my project will focus on the acquisition of the phonological system of Tashlhiyt Berber. The project involves describing the input (Infant-Directed Speech) and how its characteristics interact with early biases (e.g., Perceptual Narrowing / The Possible Word Constraint) to influence perception (e.g., word segmentation, and phoneme discrimination) and production (e.g., consonant acquisition).
I completed my BA in 2015, followed by an MA in 2019, and a ReMA in 2022. I started my PhD in 2024 as part of the Centre for Language Studies PhD competition under the supervision of Paula Fikkert, Caroline Rowland, Esther Janse, and Janine Berns. Before starting my PhD, I also worked at the LADD department as a research assistant since 2022.
