Eleanor Huizeling

I'm a postdoctoral researcher in the Multimodal Language Department (MLD). My research combines different cognitive neuroscience techniques (M/EEG, eye tracking and virtual reality) to investigate how the linguistic, extra-linguistic and visual context influences the brain’s processing of written and spoken language. I study how extra-linguistic cues, such as disfluencies (uhs and ums), eye gaze and gestures, are used in conjunction with the linguistic context to inform language comprehension and prediction. I am also interested in how the use of context during language comprehension changes with healthy ageing.

Before joining the MLD department I worked as a postdoctoral researcher here at the MPI for Psycholinguistics in the Neurobiology of Language department with Prof Peter Hagoort, between 2018-2024.

I am also Editor-in-Chief for “Het Talige Brein”, the Neurobiology of Language department’s blog. www.hettaligebrein.nl
