Clara Kunst

I am a PhD student in the Language Development Department, working on cross-linguistic influence in bilingual language development under the supervision of Professor Evan Kidd and Dr. Sharon Unsworth. In my research project, I am examining the effects of language dominance and proficiency as well as typological distance on cross-linguistic influence during online language processing in Irish-English bilingual children and adults. In addition, I am investigating how individual-level cross-linguistic influence and priming in bilingual language processing are connected to population-wide morphosyntactic change in the minority language Irish. Using Eye Tracking and priming paradigms, my main goal is to better understand how children use and learn multiple languages throughout development and how their languages influence each other in the process.
